WHITE M3A1 SCOUT CAR
World War II

SOS  MV
(406) 550-2472

The Scout Car is a great vehicle to own because it is rolling World War II History
which you can jump into at a moment's notice and drive to town or drive hundreds of
miles to a military meet.

Because it is a wheeled vehicle, it does not have to be a "trailer queen", and you are
guaranteed to turn many heads while driving, especially if you are armed with a
MA DUCE in the front and two 1919s in the rear!

The Scout Car is one of the rarest and most desirable of World War II Armor.
We occasionally find a very nice one,
and we use our expertise in the restoration process.
We also have Scout Car parts for sale.

SCOUT CAR RESTORATION

The following pictures will give you an idea
of the attention to detail that goes on in our shop
as we strive to achieve museum quality.
For best results, we start with a very straight, complete, and
rust-free vehicle.
Nearly every piece is sandblasted to bare metal, ending up with a
much better product.
Armor is heavy. It is best removed and handled with the correct,
specialized equipment.
Every piece is removed and catalogued for correct assembly.
The armor lifter saves broken hands and feet in the shop.
Heavier equipment is used to carefully remove the heaviest pieces.
The restoration process can be a lengthy one. We tag and document
all pieces so that they can be returned exactly back to their
original place.
The vehicle is intensely photographed as a record prior to
disassembly, to be used as a guide for final assembly.
Sheet metal work is prepared to facilitate quality restoration and
paint work.
Original Hercules JXD 4x4 Engine is removed and ready for
rebuilding.
The transmission is removed through the bottom of the vehicle.
After inspection, the transmission is cleaned, ready for primer and
paint.
Small parts are primed and "greened" (a term we use in our shop,
meaning "to paint with original military colors").
Although this Scout Car was painted "Army OD", it is clear in this
photo that it was originally painted "USMC Lusterless Forest Green".
